Roof Vent Collars
The results are in: rubber boots, tape, roof mastic, and caulking, all fail at the job of preventing rain water from leaking along the vent pipe, past the roof jack and into your attic. Meanwhile, the ABS pipe has with stood the weather elements just fine. The time has come for an ABS storm collar that is pipe mounted instead of roof mounted. This allows the collar to move with the pipe and still function like an umbrella, shedding water onto the galvanized portion of the flashing. Simply slide the collar down the pipe and hand tighten the compression nut onto it's integrated feral. Trims easily to a variety of roof pitches, and can be removed in seconds when you re-roof.
